Hello PY Families, Friends and other local charities.

What a whirlwind of a week. PY staff have been working behind the scenes to help families and you might have seen James and Katie delivering hot meals and packed lunches to families in the area. PY will continue to help PY children, young people and their families as best we can in these unusual circumstances.

PYCP is working with North Edinburgh Arts @LinkupMuirhouse Scran Academy The Spartans Community Football Academy to help feed families in Pilton, Muirhouse, Granton, Royston and other local community.

We hope you are enjoying all the posts from Debs and Zoe and we hope soon to have a dedicated number for families to get in touch via Whatsapp as well as Facebook if you need to get in touch.

Thanks to Radio Forth Cash for Kids LAYC EVOC City of Edinburgh Council Holiday Activity Fund for their support and to everyone who have donated food and pledged money to help us.

Finally a big thank you to all the carers, NHS staff, shop workers, postie's, Police, Fire men and women, Petrol stations, delivery drivers, unsung heroes and others that I have forgotten who are continuing to go to work and keeping our country running whilst we are all in isolation at home.

Have a nice weekend at home even though the weather is supposed to be nice, stay indoors, stay safe and look after yourselves.

Sometimes people in the mental health world really enjoy making 'fun' ways to remember how to look after yourself. Like now, with the Corna Virus a Doctor in America has come up with: FACE COVID!

F = focus on what’s in your control
A = acknowledge your thoughts and feelings
(this is a strange time and it's normal to feel weird about it)
C = come back into your body
(this is helpful for when our thoughts go '100 miles per hour' and we can be so focused on them that we sometimes forget where we are. The idea is to shift the focus from what we're thinking/feeling to imagining what different parts of your body feel like e.g. can you feel your toes?)
E = engage in what you’re doing
(same as before, but the idea is to put your attention into the activity that you might be doing e.g if you're walking up the stairs, how many steps are you walking up?).

C = committed action
(make time for something that you know make's you feel good).
O = opening up
(we're all in this together and chances are someone else if may have the same thoughts/ feelings, it's ok to reach out and talk).
V = values
(include as many things that you like into the day)
I = identify resources
(use the information around you e.g. on pycp's facebook page, to find out where to look if you need anything).
D = disinfect & distance

Thanks to every individual and business who is supporting Cash for Kids appeal. You are helping children and their families living in Edinburgh and in some of the poorest parts of the city. We have families will benefit directly from your generosity.

From all the staff, families, children and young people of Pilton and Muirhouse xxFirstly, HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated to our Emergency Appeal so far, the response has been incredible. ❤️ You guys never cease to amaze us!

We are delighted that we can now open applications, however, as we have limited funds and this is an ongoing campaign the applications may not be open for very long.

How it works 👉 As soon as we have generated funds we will be granting them out. Once these funds are used up we will close applications and wait until we have generated more funds to open applications again. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, these funds will be making a difference to our local community very soon. 💕
